Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

(9) Men's Lacrosse knocks off (6) William Penn 10-5

OSKALOOSA, Iowa – In the Heart Game of the Week, No. 9 Benedictine Men's Lacrosse knocked off No. 6 William Penn University 10-5.

Tied at 3-all headed into the second half, the Ravens used a 4-goal third quarter to distance themselves from the Statesmen en route to the win.

With the win, the Ravens now have the opportunity to earn the program's second Heart Championship with a win in the regular-season finale on Tuesday at home against Midland University.

Jacob Meyer and Camden Chambers scored Benedictine's first goals of the game and were tied with William Penn after the first quarter. 

Mason Eberle gave the Ravens a lead early in the second quarter to become the Ravens single-season goals scorer before William Penn tied the game headed into halftime.

Trent Harder scored back-to-back goals for the Ravens midway through the third quarter and the Ravens never looked back. Joey Calabria made it three straight goals before he scored for a second time with 3 seconds remaining in the quarter.

Benedictine finished the game with a 38-33 advantage in shots, which included a 21-17 advantage in the second half.

Eberle, Calabria, Harder and Meyer finished with 2 goals each while Chambers was joined by Jonah Salem with 1 goal each. Keegan Lindsay and John Paul Torgersen led the Ravens with 2 assists each while Calabria was joined by Malcom Castronova and Ian Madden with 1 assist each.

CJ Besuzzi finished with 11 saves – 5 in the fourth quarter – to earn the win in goal. 

The Ravens host Midland at 7 p.m. Tuesday with a chance to earn the outright Heart Championship.
