Men's Lacrosse avenged their lone loss of the season Thursday afternoon.
The (9) No. 1 seed Ravens defeated the No. 4 seed (9) Saint Ambrose University Fighting Bees, 10-6, in the semifinals of the Heart of America Conference Tournament. The score was the reverse of the teams' regular season meeting, a 10-6 Bees win.
The first half was tightly contested as the Ravens and Bees were level at 2-2 after the first quarter of action.
The Ravens then outscored SAU 3-1 in the second quarter to take a 5-3 lead into the halftime break.
Joey Calabria and
Mason Eberle each scored 2 goals in the opening half.
CJ Besuzzi was solid in goal in the opening 30 minutes, making 3 saves.
The Ravens pushed their lead to 7-3 after three quarters of action.
Jonah Salem and Calabria each scored to give the Ravens a 4-goal lead.
Eberle then added another goal early in the fourth quarter to increase the Ravens lead to 8-3. After an Ambrose goal, Eberle scored again, followed by a goal from
Keegan Lindsay to close out the Ravens scoring.
Eberle led the Ravens with 4 goals and Calabria added 3. Salem and
Ian Madden each had 2 assists.
Besuzzi made 7 saves and the Ravens defense was strong as the Bees turned the ball over 23 times.
The Ravens (12-1) advance to the championship game of the Heart Tournament at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2.
