CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – No. 4 seeded Benedictine Softball advances into the Winner's Bracket Semifinals of the 2026 Heart Championship Tournament on Thursday with a Quarterfinal win over William Penn University.
Benedictine led from the bottom of the first en route to a 4-1 win over William Penn to take the rubber match between the two schools after they split their regular-season doubleheader.
Megan Forsman opened up the scoring for the Ravens with an RBI single in the first. Lauren Gaitley reached on an error that scored Amanda Waymire to give the Ravens a 2-0 lead after the first inning.
William Penn scored on a solo home run in the fourth before Gaitley added a 2-run home run in the sixth to give Bailey Selvage a 3-run advantage inside the circle.
Selvage earned the complete-game win, striking out 9 while allowing 1 run while scattering 4 hits over 7 innings.
With the win, the Ravens advance to play against (8) Missouri Baptist – the Championship Tournaments top seed – at 12 p.m. on Friday.
