(9) Men's Lacrosse wins defensive battle at William Woods

FULTON, Mo. – Taking the field for the first time as a ranked team, No. 9 Benedictine Men's Lacrosse won a defensive battle over William Woods University on Wednesday night to improve to 6-0 in the Heart.

The Ravens led 5-2 after the first quarter and were able to maintain that lead throughout the game en route to a 10-7 win over the Owls.

Mason Eberle scored a man-up goal for the Ravens with 2:45 remaining in the game to seal the win for Benedictine off an assist from Trent Harder, who scored the opening goal in the fourth quarter to help push the Ravens past the Owls.

The Ravens finished with 39 shots, 25 of which were on goal while committing 28 turnovers.

John Paul Torgersen led the Ravens with 4 points (3 goals, 1 assist) while Eberle finished with 3 goals. Ian Madden scored 2 goals while Harder was joined by Jonah Salem with 1 goal each. Harder led the Ravens with 2 assists while Brayden Hope and Luke Rheinheimer added 1 assist each.

Defensively, Jack Northrup finished with 3 caused turnovers while Madden added 2. Max Thomason went 11 of 14 on face-offs with 8 ground balls while Northrup and Rheinheimer added 4 ground balls each. 

CJ Besuzzi finished with 12 saves while allowing 6 goals in just under 60 minutes in goal.

The Ravens host St. Ambrose University at 2 p.m. Saturday back on Legacy Field with just three games remaining in the regular season.
