SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Benedictine Women's Soccer opened its season on the road Thursday with an upset over NAIA Preseason No. 7 John Brown University.
The Ravens broke a 1-1 tie during the 78th minute of play to earn a 2-1 win over the Golden Eagles.
Benedictine held a 7-3 advantage in shots in the second half as they held John Brown scoreless over the final 63 minutes of play en route to the win.
The Golden Eagles struck first, scoring during the 27th minute of play on a rebound off a penalty kick. The Ravens trailed through halftime and hit the equalizer during the 46th minute Teya Bigknife assisted on the goal from Rowan Yows to pull Benedictine even.
Peyton Vogelbacher scored the game-winner off the first collegiate assist for Brynn Carroll.
Campbell Gregory played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with 3 saves.
Benedictine remains on the road for their next match, traveling to Hastings, Neb., on Aug. 26 to take on Hastings College at 6 p.m.
