Women's Soccer picked up a big home win Wednesday afternoon.
The (18) Ravens knocked off (8) MidAmerica Nazarene University, 2-1, scoring the winner late in the game.
With the teams tied at 1-1,
Patsy O'Brien sent a cross into the box and after the ball bounced off a Pioneers defender,
Brynn Carroll was there to send the game-winning goal into the back of the net with just over 4:30 to play in the game.
The Ravens salted away the final minutes and picked up their second win over a top-10 opponent – they defeated (7) John Brown University in the first game of the season.
The Ravens and Pioneers each had stretches of solid possession in the first half, but neither team was able to find an opening goal. Both teams recorded one shot on goal, and both keepers were able to make the save as the teams entered halftime scoreless at 0-0.
The Pioneers scored the opening goal of the game in the 63
rd minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Ravens found an equalizer in the 68
th when
Jenna Wilken sent a ball in finding O'Brien in the box. O'Brien was able to battle through some congestion and scored from close range to make it 1-1 with 22 minutes to play.
Carroll then scored the game-winner 17 minutes later.
The Ravens (6-0, 2-0 Heart) will remain at home for their next contest, a 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19 tilt against Culver-Stockton College.
