Volleyball picked up a second-straight sweep at home Tuesday evening as they briefly stepped out of conference play.
The Ravens defeated the Friends University Falcons, 3-0, with one player setting a new three-set kills record.
The Ravens dominated the opening set, 25-10, to go up 1-0 in the match.
Stefania Scomazzon had 5 kills and
Barbara Terra added 3 kills to lead the attack as the Ravens scored 7-straight to close out the set win.
Kelly DeMeulenaere and
Ava Penuel also had service aces as the Ravens won the first set by 15 points.
The Ravens pushed their match lead to 2-0 with a 25-21 win in the second set.
It was all Ravens for most of the set as a 5-0 run pushed their lead to 19-10. However, the Falcons battled back with their own 5-0 run and got as close as 3 points before the Ravens closed things out.
Scomazzon had 2 aces in the set, adding 8 more kills in the process.
The Ravens continued to set the tone in the third set, jumping out to another lead on their way to a 25-14 set win, and 3-0 match sweep.
Scomazzon notched 7 kills in the set, setting a new Ravens program record with 20 kills in a three-set match. She passed the previous record of 19 kills set by Fleur Wesselink in 2017. With her 5 aces in the match, Scomazzon now has 56 on the season and is closing in on the Ravens single-season record of 59 set by Haley Cahill in 2024.
Terra finished with 7 kills Tuesday night,
Bridget O'Sullivan added 5 and
JoJo Vander Woude had 4.
Wren VanCleave led the team with 24 assists, and
Mya Schirk and Penuel each had 7 assists.
Penuel had 14 digs and 2 aces, and DeMeulenaere had 15 digs to lead the team.
The win pushes the Ravens (14-2, 5-0 Heart) win streak to 10 games. They will return to Heart of America Conference play with their final match of a six-match homestand at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 against Graceland University.
