DUBUQUE, Iowa – No. 18 Benedictine Women's Soccer bounced back from its first loss of the season Saturday afternoon, closing out a two-game road swing with a 3-1 win over Clarke University.
The two teams combined for 13 total shots with all 8 of the Pride's shot on goal.
Emma Smith got her second start in goal for the Ravens against the Pride, and recorded 7 saves over 90 minutes, limiting Clarke to just one goal that came during the 86th minute.
Benedictine took a 2-0 lead into halftime, scoring on goals from Jenna Wilken during the 30th minute and Maura Maher during the 45 minute. Wilken's goal was assisted by Payton Vogelbacher while Maher's goal was assisted by Addison Duckers.
After allowing the Pride to pull within one, a foul that resulted in a yellow card for Clarke set up Vogelbacher to convert on a penalty kick with 40 seconds remaining in the match to secure the win.
The Ravens return to Legacy Field on Wednesday night to host Grand View University at 5 p.m.
