PERU, Neb. – (24) Men's Basketball traveled to Peru State College on Friday and Saturday for a pair of games against AMC opponents Missouri Baptist University and Central Baptist College.
After dropping their game on Friday, 74-51, to Missouri Baptist, the Ravens bounced back with a 76-65 win over Central Baptist on Saturday.
Against the Spartans, the Ravens started the game cold offensively as it took nearly three minutes for them to score their first basket. A 3-pointer from Jayden Temme snapped a 9-0 run by the Spartans that was followed by a basket from Jaiden Bristol to pull the Ravens within four points.
Those four points proved to be as close as the Ravens would get as the Spartans used a 51.9 percent effort from the floor to take a 30-17 lead into halftime. Eric Krus completed an old-fashion 3-point play inside the first three minutes of the second half to cut the Ravens deficit to 9 points, but Missouri Baptist continued to stay hot offensively to pull away from Benedictine.
Matt Austin led the Ravens with 13 points while Temme added 11. Krus finished with 9 to round out the Ravens top scorers against the Spartans.
Against the Mustangs on Saturday, the Ravens connected on 55.6 percent from the floor in the first half while connecting on 5 first-half 3-pointers to build a 38-27 lead at the break.
After giving up 19 points off turnovers in their loss at the Classic, the Ravens turned the table on Saturday scoring 17 points off 13 Mustang turnovers.
Benedictine finished the game at 50 percent from the floor with a 44.4 percent effort from beyond the arc. They also control the paint, outscoring Central Baptist 34-16.
All five starters finished in double figures, led by Austin with a game-high 26 points. Bristol added 16 as he finished with a team-high 10 rebounds while Temme and Krus scored 12 points each. Saxton Thuston added 10 points to round out the Ravens scoring.
The Ravens remain on the road, traveling to Siloam Springs, Ark., on Nov. 23 to take on John Brown University at 4:05 p.m.
