Women's Basketball hosts Grand View on Saturday in Heart Game of the Week

The 21st meeting between Benedictine Women's Basketball and (RV) Grand View University not only marks the only meeting between the two programs this season, but the game has been designed as the Heart Game of the Week. Each team sits in a tie with (11) MNU at  9-1 in the Heart and the winner gains the advantage on any potential ties later in the season.

Saturday's match up from the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium tips off at 2 p.m. with coverage on the Urban Edge Network provided by the Benedictine Raven Sports Network at https://urbanedgenetwork.net/watch/5550. The meeting between the two programs marks the second straight Game of the Week pairing between, with the Ravens hosting the game on Feb. 22 in the regular-season finale of the 2024-25 season. Grand View earned an 59-47 win over Benedictine in that meeting.

The Vikings (12-6, 9-1 Heart) are led by returning first-team All-Heart selection Anna Gossling. Gossling is averaging 17.6, which ties her for fourth in the Heart in points per game with Jersee Wren of William Woods and Benedictine's Riley Bruggeman. She currently ranks third in the Heart in made 3-pointers with 44.

Benedictine's Riley Bruggeman and Oen Deters continue to keep pace as two of the top assist leaders in the Heart this season. Through 18 games, Bruggeman is ranked second with 81 while Deters is ranked third with 78. Bruggeman recorded a career-high 10 assists on Wednesday in Benedictine's 84-39 win over Baker. 

Grand View is out to a 2-1 start to Heart play in 2026 with a 66-42 loss to Missouri Valley sandwiched between wins over Central Methodist and Park. The Vikings opened Heart play with an 8-game winning streak that included a 69-66 home win over MNU in their only match up of the season with the Pioneers. 

Benedictine set a new season high for points in the paint (against an NAIA opponent) on Wednesday scoring 44 points against Baker. They have scored 40 or more in both home games so far in 2026 and in 3 of their last 6. On the season, the Ravens are averaging 33 points in the paint per game

Kyla Fitzgerald went 7 of 7 from the floor on Wednesday in the win over the Wildcats, giving the Ravens a team-high 16 points off the bench. She became the fourth Raven to finish the game with a perfect 3-point effort (minimum of 2 shots), hitting 2 of 2 from beyond the arc. 

Grand View bounced back from its first loss of the Heart season on Wednesday with its largest margin of victory in Heart play with a 71-45 win over Park. Anna Gossling led four in double figures with 15. Ellie Knock and Amaya Davison scored 14 each while Taryn Ottemann gave the Vikings 10 points off the bench – matching Park's entire bench-scoring effort.
