OVERLAND PARK – Benedictine Football earned two Heart weekly honors on Monday.
Punter Scotty Robertson joined safeties Isaiah Hasten Anthony Lonergan as the Heart Football Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in No. 4 Benedictine's 34-32 win over No. 23 Baker University on Saturday.
Robertson punted the ball four times on Saturday, but it was his second-to-last punt of the game that played a key role in the final outcome.
With the game tied at 32, Robertson pinned the Wildcats at the 2-yard line after a 37-yard part was downed. Benedictine tackled Baker in the end zone on the first play from scrimmage after the punt for a safety that proved to be the difference in the final score.
Robertson averaged 39.0 yards per punt for a total of 156 yards on Saturday. For the season, Robertson is averaging 41.3 yards per punt over 19 punts this season with a long of 60 yards.
Benedictine returns to the road on Saturday, heading to Fayette, Mo., for a night kickoff at 6 p.m. against Central Methodist University.
