EMPORIA – The Outdoor season continued on Friday for Benedictine Track & Field as they competed in the ESU Spring Open hosted by Emporia State University.
Competing in a field of schools from across the Junior College, NAIA, and NCAA Div. II with a number of unattached athletes, the Ravens earned several top finishes.
Joe Loughman continued his strong start of the outdoor season, hitting the NAIA A standard in the javelin with a throw of 63.65 meters to take third overall in the event. Mary Lorang also hit the NAIA A standard in the javelin while also meeting the NAIA B standard in the discus. Lorang placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 42.02 meters while placing second in the discus with a throw of 49.54 meters.
Ava Wolf and Alexa Lamb gave the Raven Women a pair of top five finishes in the 10,000 meters with Wolf placing second and Lamb placing third.
Other top five finishes for the Ravens included fourth place for Sebastian Michael in the 3,000 steeplechase, fourth place for Helen Ullrich in the 3,000 steeplechase, and fourth place for Madison Helton in the triple jump.
The Ravens had four relays finish inside the top five. The Women's 4x800 placed second. Both "A" 4x400 meter relay teams placed third while the men's "B" 4x400 relay placed fifth.
