OVERLAND PARK – Prior to the championship game was played Saturday on Legacy Field, the Heart of America Athletic Conference announced the 2026 All-Conference Men's Lacrosse Team.
Benedictine's 9 all-conference selections were headline by five individual awards. CJ Besuzzi was named the Heart Defensive Player of the Year and Co-Player of the Year. John Paul Torgersen was named the Heart Freshman of the Year. Head Coach Mark Crisco was named the Heart Coach of the Year while assistant coach Keaton Carney was named the Heart Assistant Coach of the Year.
Mason Eberle (attack), Jack Northrup (defense), and Besuzzi (goalie) were named to the first team.
Reed Martin (defense), Max Thomason (face-off specialist), Trent Harder (midfielder), Jonah Salem (midfielder), Torgersen (midfielder) and Luke Rheinheimer (short-stick defensive midfielder) were all named to the second team.
Prior to the Heart Tournament, Besuzzi had a 4.25 goals-against average with 79 saves and a save percentage of .664 against 202 shots. Torgersen had 38 points (19 goals, 19 assists) with 18 ground balls and 3 caused turnovers.
Eberle entered the Heart postseason with 50 goals and 13 assists. Northrup led the Ravens with 29 caused turnovers while recording 30 ground balls.
On the second team, Martin finished the regular season with 24 caused turnovers and 22 ground balls. Thomason went 146 of 199 on face-offs with a .734 face-off percentage. Harder had 42 points )(25 goals, 17 assists). Salem had 45 points (28 goals, 17 assists). Rheinheimer recorded 9 caused turnovers and 37 ground balls.
