Men's Soccer Notebook - Week 5 - Sept. 29

(RV) Ravens host defending NAIA Champion Grand View on Wednesday; travel to Missouri Baptist on Saturday

Benedictine Men's Soccer hosts No. 21 Grand View University on Wednesday before closing out the week at Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis. The match with the Vikings can be streamed at https://www.urbanedgenetwork.net/watch/1489. 

Grand View leads the series with Benedictine 8-5-2 since the Vikings joined the Heart of America Athletic Conference for the 2013 season. Over the last ten matches, the series stands at 4-4-2 with this year's match marking the third straight meeting on Legacy Field. Last year the Vikings earned a 2-0 win over the Ravens while in 2024, the two teams played to a 2-2 draw. 

ABOUT BENEDICTINE: Benedictine enters the week with an overall record of 5-2-2 while they have posted two wins in their last three matches since dropping their first match of Heart play to No. 4 MNU back on Sept. 16. They sit one point ahead of Benedictine in the Heart standings. … The Vikings have won back-to-back matches in Heart play, outscoring St. Ambrose and Central Methodist by a combined 8-1 that included a shutout at home on Sept. 26 against CMU. … Lucas Newhard leads the Vikings in points with 13 (5 goals, 3 assists). Herman Furumo and Wilmont Manneh each have 7 points. Furumo has 2 goals and 3 assists, while Manneh has 3 goals and 1 assist. Benedictine has played Missouri Baptist four times since 2009, but have not played at Missouri Baptist since the 2009 season when they earned a 4-1. Last year, the first match in the series with the Spartans playing as a member of the Heart, Benedictine earned a 3-0 win on Legacy Field.
