Men's Lacrosse returns to NAIA National Invitational at 10 a.m. Wednesday

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Benedictine Men's Lacrosse returns to the NAIA National Invitational Tournament for the third time on Wednesday as the No. 8-seeded Ravens take on No. 1-seeded Indiana Tech. 

Wednesday's game starts off the Quarterfinal round at 10 a.m. from the Ashton Broshnaham Athletic Park in Pensacola. The Quarterfinal match-up between the Ravens and Warriors will be streamed on the NAIA Network at www.naianetwork.com and is available for a $4.95 pay-per-view fee. 

The Warriors earned their trip to the Invitational by earning the WHAC Tournament Championship while Benedictine earned their trip to the Invitational by winning the KCAC Tournament Championship.

Indiana Tech is making its fifth overall appearance while Benedictine is making its third overall appearance. This season marks the sixth season for the NAIA to host a Men's Lacrosse National Invitational Tournament.  

The Warriors lead the NAIA in goals (256), man-down goals (5), assists (176), shots (801), shots on goal (513), ground balls (704), and caused turnovers 282. They are led in scoring by Andrew Ryan, who ranks first in the NAIA in points (81), second in shots (174), and shots on goal (105). He has scored a total of 53 goals this season with 28 assists. The Warriors have four players who have scored over 30 goals this season. 

The Ravens head into the Invitational ranked fourth in the NAIA in goals (211), sixth in assists (121), fifth in shots (722), and fourth in shots on goal (441). They also rank third in man-down goals (4) and are fourth in caused turnovers (175). Brady Guck leads the Ravens with 71 points this season, scoring 45 goals with 26 assists. He ranks seventh in the NAIA in goals while Michael Hogan ranks ninth with 44. Hogan is second on the Ravens this season in points with 62 as he has tallied 18 assists as well. 

The Warriors hold the advantage in goals-against-average, limiting their opponents to just 6.1 while Benedictine enters Invitational play at 9.04. Duncan Loud has played goal for the Ravens in all 15 games this season, tallying 160 saves with a save percentage of 53 percent. The Warriors have used a combination of Kyle TwoBulls and Chad Nedbal. TwoBulls is second in the NAIA in goals allowed with 42 while he leads the NAIA in goals-against-average at 5.8.

The meeting between the Ravens and the Warriors is a rematch of Benedictine's home opener this season. The Warriors beat the Ravens 14-10 using a 6-goal to erase a halftime deficit. To read more about that matchup, visit https://www.ravenathletics.com/sports/mlax/2021-22/releases/20220226t08cet

The winner between the Ravens and Warriors will advance to the Semifinals on Thursday at 4 p.m. where they will play the winner of the Cumberlands (Ky.)-Tennessee Wesleyan Quarterfinal.
