Benedictine College Baseball head coach Eric Peterson has announced his additions for the upcoming school year after rounding out his 2025 recruiting class.
"We are excited to welcome the 2025 recruiting class to Benedictine," Coach Peterson said. "Coach Greg May and Coach Ben Bennett did an excellent job of identifying, connecting, and building this class. The depth of this recruiting class is full of talented young men who will succeed in the classroom and on the field. Please help us welcome these young men and their families to the Raven Nation."
This year's group of 23 student-athletes hails from eight states with 19 incoming freshmen and four transfers. They are:
Ryan McDougal - coming to the Ravens from Lutheran High School in Parker, Colorado, was a participant in the Winter 2024 Future Raven Prospect Camp. Ryan, the first member of the 2025 class, identified Benedictine College and our International Business program as the right fit for him early in the process. At our January camp, Ryan demonstrated his versatility by working out as a pitcher, catcher, outfielder, and infielder, showcasing high skill and talent at each position. Ryan will continue to be a two-way player, spending time with the infielders when he is not pitching, following a highly successful 2024 summer on the mound.
Ethan Cox - from Bishop Carroll High School in Wichita, Kansas, was a second-team all-city right-handed pitcher in 2024. He fits the theme driving this class to get high-level athletic Ravens. Ethan joins Benedictine College to explore accounting or finance academically. Coach Peterson identified Ethan early in his junior year as an arm that could make an immediate impact as a freshman. Ethan's early commitment helped get this class some much-needed momentum. Ethan has post-season experience and looks forward to another run in his senior year at Bishop Carroll.Â
Liam Annand - a dual-sport athlete, playing soccer and baseball for Hayden Catholic High School in Topeka, Kansas. He is a strong-armed infielder, and we have watched him on and off campus through his travel team's participation in our Raven Team Summer Camps and as a camper in the July 2024 Future Raven Prospect Camp. Liam's defense stood out during the process, and his academic drive helped him secure a spot at Benedictine College in his pursuit of a pre-med degree. Liam comes with championship experience, winning the 2024 Kansas 3A state title and being named the MVP of the state tournament.
Johnny Ruflin joins many Ravens from the Lone Star State. Johnny, out of Aledo, Texas, is an infielder for Aledo High School, earning All-District 5A-5 second-team honors; Johnny identified Benedictine College and got the coaching staff's attention through his film shared in his questionnaire. Attending our July 2024 Future Raven Prospect Camp confirmed what we saw from a distance and the positive review from his coaches. Johnny will arrive with multiple academic interests and an undecided major.
Zachary Leslie - another of the growing number of Texans on this Ravens roster, from Plano, Texas, and playing for Lebanon Trail High School. Zach Leslie is a right-handed pitcher with a classical pitcher's tall frame; he projects to have a chance to help the staff in his first year. His fit as a Raven goes beyond just his skills on the mound; Zachary comes as an Eagle Scout and a member of the school orchestra, playing double bass. A significant part of Zachary's selection of Benedictine was his pursuit of an exercise science major, as well as the excellent Catholic education Benedictine College offers.
Andrew Zimmerschied - from Free State High School near Lawrence, Kansas, is a catcher the coaching staff has been watching for years. Another participant from our July 2024 Future Raven Prospect Camp, Andrew, showed all the skills and tools we look for in a catcher; a great swing and great athleticism confirmed Andrew was a perfect fit for Raven Baseball.  Taking 3rd place in the 2023 and 2024 state playoffs, Andrew is looking to make a deeper run in his senior year. A national honor society member, Andrew is interested in majoring in Finance.
Anthony Sanders - a left-handed pitcher joining the Ravens and Benedictine College out of
St Pius X in Kansas City, Missouri. We have seen Anthony pitch many times for St. Pius and his travel team, which joined us for our Raven Baseball Summer Team Camps, demonstrating a competitor and pitch mix we believe can compete as soon as he steps on campus. Anthony wants to build off a 2024 Class 4 District 15 championship. Along with continuing to receive a Catholic education, Anthony is looking to major in Business Management.
Jackson Tankersley - a strong swinging corner infielder from Liberty High School in Kansas City, Missouri. Jackson is Coach Ben Bennett's first commit as he begins putting more fingerprints on the offensive players that fit his offensive approach. Coming from one of the most successful programs in the Kansas City area, Jackson brings a winning expectation to this class and his senior year at Liberty. Jackson is looking to major in business management while at Benedictine College.
Jack Cozean – No one quite demonstrated his desire to be a Benedictine College Raven. First, by making his visit on campus through admissions, and attending the 2024 July and October Future Raven Prospect Camps. He also demonstrated his catching skills and coachability by attending both camps, getting high notes for his interaction with pitchers, and the physicality of his swing. A Mechanical Engineering major from Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Jack zeroed in on Benedictine College early in his search for the right fit and corresponded with the coaching staff as early as October of his junior year.
Alexander Andrews - joining a growing cluster of Colorado commits on the Raven Baseball roster. Alexander is a right-handed pitcher at Mullen High School out of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, joining the Raven pitching staff. Looking to build off a regional final in his junior year, Alexander looks to have a larger role as a senior. Benedictine College will fit Alexander like a glove, having been raised in a Catholic education since pre-school, and Benedictine will allow Alexander to pursue a pre-law program.
Noah Richardson - another member from the mile-high state, is a tall, athletic, left-handed pitcher from Twin Peaks Charter Academy in Longmont, Colorado. He participated in our September Future Ravens Prospect Camp, where he demonstrated a mix of pitches and delivery that the staff does not presently have and feel strongly can help us from his first year on campus. Noah will arrive as an undecided major but has a strong interest in biochemistry while fulfilling the requirements to pursue a degree in medicine.Â
Brogan Jaworski – A strong physical athlete who brings a good swing and tested exceptionally well at our Future Raven Prospect Camp, Brogan Jaworski joins the Ravens from Saint James Academy in Lenexa, Kansas. Brogan will compete as a catcher primarily, but moves well enough and has a high baseball IQ to play other positions if needed. Coming to Benedictine College to major in either Accounting or Marketing.
Dane Jenal – Dane Jenal is the last member of the 2025 class, coming to the Ravens from Laguna Beach, California, where he played for Laguna Beach High School. Dane found the right fit in Benedictine College, as he sought a Catholic college to continue his growth in faith, study criminology, and join a four-year program with a strong culture and opportunities to compete in his first year. A Sunset Wave all-league second team outfielder in 2024, we are excited to have Dane with this group and at Benedictine College.
Chris Meredith – From Oak Grove, Missouri, outfielder Chris Meredith joins Benedictine College and Raven Baseball, coming from Grain Valley High School. A participant in our Winter 2025 Future Raven Prospect Camp, Chris demonstrated exceptional skills in our baseball testing, with an excellent swing and outstanding speed as an outfielder and base runner. As we got to know Chris more, it was clear how much of a fit he is as a Raven, and we were thrilled Chris is joining our program while studying to become another Raven Baseball Engineer with a focus on mechanical engineering.Â
Nick Orscheln – A dual-sport athlete from Saint Joseph Christian School in Saint Joseph, Missouri, Nick Orscheln joins the Ravens as a left-handed pitcher–outfielder. A three-time all-conference, all-district, and all-city selection, Nick will come in looking to compete as a pitcher first and outfielder second, but his grittiness as a baseball player is what we are most excited for. An exceptional basketball player, Nick collected more than 1,000 points during his time at SJCS. Nick is currently interested in majoring in Biology at Benedictine College.
Grant Russell – Another Raven joining us from the Lone Star State, Grant Russell is a speedy, rangy Outfielder from John Paul II High School in Frisco, Texas. Grant comes ready to compete with a good hit tool, great speed on bases, and excellent range defensively. Grant identified Benedictine College as the right fit for his academic interest in Exercise Science and his spiritual development, and we look forward to the instant competition and depth of athlete and hitter he will bring to Raven baseball.
Anderson Smith – Another younger brother joins the program as Anderson Smith, the younger brother of Benson, arrives at Benedictine College from nearby Staley High School in Kansas City, Missouri. The athletic utility player will see action all over the field, with the potential to play infield, outfield, or even catch. Anderson is undecided but is considering Exercise Science, Music, or Nursing.
Spencer Strecker – The long and lanky right-handed pitcher showed a diligent process to find the right fit in school that would allow him to continue his education, faith, and baseball. Hailing from Little River, Kansas, and a member of the Kansas Curve, Spencer showcased a skill set that we believe can make an instant impact and set a tone for several young brothers to follow. An active young man off the field, Spencer is looking to major in Management, and you may see him playing in the marching band or performing in our music department.
Joseph Sullivan – Wishing to compete this fall as a two-way right-hand pitcher and infielder, Joseph is from Omaha Central High School in Nebraska. Joseph is another Future Raven Camper who stood out during his workout, demonstrating a gritty, tenacious attitude, we knew would be an instant fit and addition to our program and pitching staff. Joseph is still undecided between elementary education and a philosophy major.
Parrish Beagle- Beagle is coming home to Atchison after spending two years pitching for Tarleton State University in Texas. Beagle spent time as a starter and came out of the pen for the Texans, starting 9 games over 41 appearances in 2024 and 2025. Beagle comes off a 2025 season where he only walked 5 hitters, over 26.2 IP. Beagle also helped the Texans win the 2024 WAC tournament, throwing two shutout innings in the championship game. He also earned All-WAC academic honors during the 2024 season. Beagle attended Maur Hill-Mount Academy in Atchison, Kansas, where he was an All-State pitcher.Â
Owen Sullivan- Sullivan is transferring to Atchison from Western Illinois University, of the Ohio Valley Conference. Coming off a red shirt season, Sullivan looks to have an immediate impact as an outfield bat for the Ravens. Sullivan attended Oak Creek High School in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. There he earned first team All-Conference honors in 2022 and 2023, also was Honorable mention All-Conference in 2021. Sullivan also won a Gold Glove in 2023. He was the Southeast Conference Academic Player of the year in 2023. Â
Daniel Ornelas- Ornelas comes to the Ravens from Kalamazoo County Community College in Michigan. Ornelas brings versatility to the Ravens squad and looks to have an impact on the offense from a variety of spots. Ornelas split time between DH and Outfield last year for the Cougars and helped the team to the two highest win totals since COVID at Kalamazoo County. Ornelas also earned All-MCCAA academic honors in the 2024 and 2025 Seasons. Â
Korey Messick- Messick comes to Benedictine from Missouri Western State University. Messick looks to add some power to the lineup on the corners for the Ravens. Messick attended Van Horn HS in Independence, MO, where he was a 4-time Varsity letter winner, 3 times First Team All-Conference, 2 times All-Eastern Jackson County, and a MHSBCA All Star in 2023.Â
