Cole Doherty added to Benedictine Baseball coaching staff

Benedictine College Baseball head coach Eric Peterson has announced the addition of Cole Doherty to his staff for the 2025-26 academic year.

"I am excited to be a part of the Raven family," Coach Doherty said. "Returning back home to Kansas City to coach is an awesome opportunity for my family. I am grateful for the opportunity and want to thank Coach Eric Peterson and Athletic Director Charlie Gartenmayer for welcoming us. I'm eager to get to work with the pitching staff and help these young men develop on and off the field."

Coach Doherty is a native of Oak Grove, Mo., and played collegiately at both Southwest Baptist and Heart opponent Park University, where he earned a Bachelor's in Education. He also holds a Master's in Educational Leadership & Administration from Heart newcomer William Woods University.

"We are excited to announce the hiring of Cole Doherty and welcome him and his wife, Gabby, and daughter Lainey to Benedictine," Coach Peterson said. "Cole brings enthusiasm, energy, and passion to Raven baseball and will be a great fit for our program."

Coach Doherty served as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for NCAA Div. I University of Maryland Eastern Shore since 2023. While in his role, he helped the program increase its win total from his first year to his second year. The team also lowered its team ERA by two runs from his first year to his second year.

Prior to Maryland Eastern Shore, he served in the same role at the University of Sciences & Pharmacy, St. Louis, where he helped establish the program. His collegiate coaching career started at Lincoln Christian University in Lincoln, Ill, where he served as the program's lead assistant and pitching coach. 

As a student-athlete at Park, he was a three-year starter for the Pirates. He was a two-time Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete is ranked in the top 10 in career pitching appearances, top five in career saves, and top five in single-season saves at Park.

Coach Doherty and his wife, Gabby, have a daughter, Lainey, and are excited to be moving back home to the Kansas City area.
