KANSAS CITY, Mo. – CJ Besuzzi has been named the NAIA Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after earning the same award for the Heart of America Athletic Conference on Monday.
Besuzzi matched his career high with 20 saves in Benedictine's 22-8 win over Columbia to move to 4-0 in the Heart and 7-0 overall.
During the game, Besuzzi earned his 300th career save as a Raven and now has 42 saves on the season with an .824 save percentage and just 9 goals allowed this season for a 1.89 goals-against average.
Besuzzi currently leads the NAIA in goals against, goals-against average and save percentage. For his career, he now has 315 saves and is second on the Ravens all-time saves list.
Benedictine returns to action on Saturday, hosting an 11 a.m. game with Missouri Baptist University on Legacy Field. They were originally scheduled to travel to William Woods University on Wednesday, but that game has now been pushed to Monday, April 6 at 6 p.m. in Fulton, Mo., due to the forecast for inclement weather in the region.
